KAWENNI:IO|GAWENI:YO NEEDS A NEW SCHOOL
Our students, families, & community are ready for it.
Our school has never had a building of our own. We have operated out of various leased facilities since 1986. Some of these facilities were schools built in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. They were eventually condemned and we were forced to move to other locations, sometimes in the middle of school years.
We currently operate our program of education for over 150 students out of a leased office space in the upstairs of the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena with generous support from a community member and private donor.
We need a permanent home to continue our important work of preserving and revitalizing our languages, culture and way of life for current and future generations.
